A class action lawsuit has been filed against PROCEPT BioRobotics Corporation (NASDAQ: PRCT), a medical robotics company, for allegedly misleading investors about its sales practices and financial health. The company develops surgical robotic systems for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia.

The lawsuit claims that between February 28, 2024, and February 25, 2026, PROCEPT made false and misleading statements. Specifically, the company is accused of using a large-scale discount program to encourage customers to place bulk orders. This tactic artificially pulled forward sales, inflating current handpiece sales and revenue at the expense of future income.

More critically, the company allegedly underestimated the resulting inventory build-up. The lawsuit states that by February 2026, there was an excess inventory of over 10,000 handpieces sitting in the market.

As the truth began to emerge, the company's stock price suffered a series of sharp declines. In August 2025, the company reported second-quarter handpiece sales that fell short of expectations, causing the stock to drop about 16% over two days. In November of the same year, third-quarter sales again missed guidance, and the company had to lower its full-year sales forecast, leading to another drop of over 10%.

On February 25, 2026, the company disclosed even more severe issues: fourth-quarter 2025 handpiece sales had fallen nearly 30% sequentially from the third quarter. It also admitted that since the first quarter of 2023, handpiece sales had consistently exceeded the actual number of procedures performed. This news caused the stock to plummet more than 18% in a single day.

As of July 24, 2026, PRCT shares have fallen to $16.69, a decline of approximately 47% for the year. Several law firms, including Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, have initiated the class action and are urging investors who suffered losses before the September 22, 2026, deadline to apply to be lead plaintiffs.
