The third batch of national trade-in program funding has been allocated, with Taobao and Tmall launching subsidy applications starting August 26. Currently, consumers in numerous provinces and cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Guangdong can access the national subsidy zone through the Taobao app homepage or by searching "national subsidy" to claim relevant subsidies.
The scope of national subsidies has expanded again this year. Coinciding with the back-to-school season, smart lamps, study desks and chairs, and learning machines have been included in the trade-in subsidy program for the first time, offering up to 20% subsidies. Meanwhile, 3C digital products priced under 6,000 yuan, including smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches/fitness bands, can receive 15% subsidies with a maximum reduction of 500 yuan. From August 25-31, students on Tmall can enjoy additional education discounts, with combined subsidies reducing prices by up to 4,000 yuan, achieving overall discounts as low as 50% off, comparable to the 618 shopping festival.
Beyond the newly added categories, consumers can currently claim national subsidies for purchasing home appliances and home improvement products. Products with first-level or higher energy/water efficiency ratings can receive up to 20% subsidies, while second-level efficiency products qualify for 15% subsidies. Home aging adaptation products receive subsidies as high as 30%.
To date, over 1,600 categories, more than 3,000 brands, and 200,000 products are available with national subsidies on Taobao and Tmall, with over 150 million daily visits to the national subsidy zone.
In addition to national subsidies, multiple provinces and cities including Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Shanghai are distributing local consumption subsidies through Taobao and Tmall. Hangzhou offers education subsidies with 15% discounts on products like language learning devices and reading pens. Nanjing provides 10% subsidies for home appliances, furniture, and all categories of 3C digital products. Guangdong's Tianhe district has added outdoor sports categories beyond home appliances and home improvement, offering 10% subsidies. Consumers can access these local subsidies in one place through Taobao's national subsidy zone or by searching "local subsidies."
Recently, Taobao and Tmall have comprehensively upgraded their logistics and installation services, refining the original "daily appointment" system to "half-day precision appointments." Consumers can freely choose morning or afternoon time slots, avoiding full-day waiting and achieving a one-stop service experience of "buy, unpack, deliver, install" for subsidized products. To facilitate subsidy claims, Taobao and Tmall have further upgraded the user experience by launching an "alarm reminder" function for regions with "scheduled coupon distribution."
