Iluka Resources Limited's stock surged 5.10% during intraday trading, following the announcement of a strategically significant four-year rare-earth offtake agreement.

The deal, which helps unlock funding for the company's Eneabba refinery project, has drawn positive analyst commentary despite undisclosed customer and pricing terms. Morgan Stanley noted the confidentiality is understandable given likely sensitivity to China-linked supply chains and called the agreement "modest but strategically important."

Market speculation suggests the mystery buyer is likely a large U.S. electric-vehicle manufacturer with significant permanent magnet demand, according to Macquarie. The bank sees scope for additional future offtake agreements, reinforcing the positive sentiment around Iluka's rare earths strategy.
