A report released by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the National Committee on Aging on July 31 shows that the coverage of elderly welfare subsidies continues to expand.

As of the end of 2025, a total of 53.538 million individuals nationwide were receiving elderly subsidies, reflecting growth in the system's reach.

The report also indicates that the country's elderly care service workforce reached 1.395 million people by the end of 2025. This includes 685,000 workers in nursing homes, where certified caregivers account for 47.4% of the staff, and 710,000 employees in community-based elderly care service institutions and facilities.

In 2025, vocational education programs established 3,922 majors related to elderly care services, while 41 higher education institutions registered 51 specialized programs, such as health and elderly care service management.

Additionally, the report highlights that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, a cumulative 570,000 home-based care beds were constructed, and 30 million home-based elderly care services were provided. In 2025, 27,100 old urban residential communities began renovation, with over 4,300 community service facilities, including those for elderly care, being added.
