On July 23, MTR Corporation (00066.HK) disclosed that the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link's Hong Kong section surpassed 16 million passenger trips in the first half of this year, representing a year-on-year increase of over 10%. This achievement sets a new half-year record since the line began operations in September 2018.

The average daily passenger volume exceeded 92,000 trips during this period, with a single-day peak of nearly 150,000 passengers recorded on April 4, breaking the previous daily record. Currently, passengers departing from Hong Kong's West Kowloon Station can reach 113 destinations across mainland China.

To accommodate rising demand, starting July 1, additional short-haul services were introduced. The number of trains connecting Shenzhen's Futian Station and Hong Kong's West Kowloon Station has been increased to at least 112 trips per day. Furthermore, in response to summer cross-border travel needs, 13 extra round trips will be added between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Shenzhen Futian Station during the five weekends from July 25 to August 23.

Operated by MTR Corporation (00066.HK), this rail link serves as a critical transportation infrastructure connecting the mainland and Hong Kong. MTR Corporation CEO Linda Yang stated that the company will continue to enhance high-speed rail services, improve station facilities, and provide passengers with safer, more comfortable, and more convenient cross-border travel experiences, thereby reinforcing Hong Kong's status as a key regional transportation hub.
