At the Smart Electric Vehicle Development High-Level Forum 2026, ZTE Corporation's CTO for large enterprises, Xu Zhicheng, engaged in a dialogue with the media. When questioned about whether ZTE would venture into complete vehicle production, Xu clarified that each company has its own strategic focus. ZTE is dedicated to the ICT sector and aims to provide technological capabilities across various industries. The company has no intention of entering vehicle manufacturing or other unfamiliar sectors, including the automotive industry.

Regarding ZTE's strategy in the automotive field, Xu mentioned that while the company is involved in automotive electronics, it maintains a practical and low-profile approach. The core objective is to offer ZTE's expertise to automobile manufacturers. He outlined three primary collaboration models: first, providing direct, on-site support from R&D engineers, such as in the partnership with FAW Group; second, utilizing ZTE's large-scale R&D models and optimizing them with automakers' specific data; and third, supplying pre-trained coding intelligent agents directly to automotive companies. Additionally, ZTE is concentrating on areas including network infrastructure, in-vehicle chips and operating systems, as well as 4G/5G modules.
