On September 15, the upgraded ride-hailing zone at Beijing Daxing International Airport was officially launched. The renovation, aiming for a seamless, efficient, and comfortable experience, involved a comprehensive redesign of the ride-hailing area's layout, relocating the pickup points from Level 1M of the P1 parking garage to the former P2 parking garage.
The airport has focused on expanding capacity, restructuring traffic flow, and enhancing the environment to refine the final leg of the passenger journey. A key feature of this upgrade is the physical separation of the pickup and staging areas, allowing for simultaneous expansion of both core resources. Pickup points have increased from 10 to 35, a 250% boost, while the staging area can now hold 1,200 ride-hailing vehicles at once, a 150% increase in capacity. This ample staging capacity, combined with the multiple pickup points, facilitates smoother vehicle dispatch during peak hours, effectively reducing passenger wait times and enabling faster departures.
The upgrade also ensures that ride-hailing vehicles and private cars now operate in separate buildings, with their traffic physically isolated to avoid any interference. The access route for ride-hailing vehicles has been upgraded from a single-entry, single-exit model to a dual-entry, dual-exit system, allowing vehicles to enter and leave on dedicated lanes. Additionally, different ride-hailing platforms now use designated pickup zones, which has significantly improved transfer efficiency. The system can now process over 1,000 vehicles per hour during peak times, easily handling the arrival of large numbers of flights and holiday traffic surges, ensuring a smooth journey for all passengers.
Alongside the expanded pickup resources and new traffic flow, the renovation has also improved the waiting area. The new passenger lounge features an air conditioning system, comfortable seating, and smart information screens that keep travelers updated on their vehicle's status. Clear signage, broadcast announcements, and an increased number of on-site staff provide guidance throughout the entire process, from booking to boarding, adding a touch of warmth to the efficient service. Looking ahead, the airport will continue to prioritize passenger needs, working with the Beijing Key Station Area Management Committee and transport authorities to monitor the ride-hailing service and make dynamic adjustments, all in an effort to provide travelers with a pleasant start and finish to their journeys.
