On September 4th, yesterday marked a significant milestone as the 10,000th new energy light truck T5 from BYD Company Limited rolled off the production line at BYD's truck smart factory in Huai'an.
The BYD T5 was launched in early last year, offering both pure electric and DM hybrid power versions. The DM model starts at 139,800 yuan and 147,800 yuan respectively, while the EV version, featuring a 94kWh battery option, starts at 169,800 yuan.
The T5 measures 5,995mm in length, 2,160mm in width, and 3,150mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,360mm and a gross vehicle weight of 4,495kg. It can be operated with a Class C driver's license and features lightweight design with a drag coefficient of 0.42Cd. The vehicle reportedly offers 300-400kg more cargo capacity compared to similar hybrid products in the industry, with a comprehensive fuel consumption of 9.2 liters per 100 kilometers under standard conditions.
The T5 incorporates an intelligent cockpit and DiLink system shared with BYD's passenger vehicles, equipped with a multifunctional steering wheel, full LCD instrument cluster, ESP electronic steering assistance, and HHC hill-start assist among other "passenger car-like" design features.
In terms of powertrain, the T5 DM is equipped with BYD's DM 1.5T hybrid-specific engine, achieving a maximum thermal efficiency of 41%. It features a DM hybrid-specific Blade Battery and represents the world's first application of flat wire motors in light truck vehicles, delivering peak power of 150kW and maximum power generation efficiency of 93.2%. The standard battery capacity is 18.3kWh, capable of charging from 20% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. A high-capacity version was subsequently introduced, increasing capacity to 55.39kWh.
The T5 EV delivers maximum power of 150kW, achieving 0-50km/h acceleration in 3.2 seconds under half-load conditions. After 30 minutes of charging, it can achieve over 100 kilometers of range. The battery capacity is 94.3kWh, with subsequent options of 82kWh, 100kWh, and 132kWh capacity variants available.
