01 Stock Market

As of Oct 26, U.S. stock index futures performed as follows: Dow Jones futures rose 0.36% to 52,582.00; S&P 500 futures rose 0.31% to 7,683.75; and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.51% to 29,265.50. The tone was firmer after a weak prior session in the cash market, with technology-linked contracts leading modestly. That setup suggests traders were positioning ahead of a busy earnings and policy week while keeping an eye on rates, oil, and large-cap growth names.

Notable Stock Movers: Micron Technology up 2.02% at $895.30, Meta Platforms up 1.73% at $653.71, Tesla up 2.27% at $380.66, and NVIDIA up 1.00% at $213.06. On the downside, Apple fell 1.68% to $341.88, CoreWeave fell 3.36% to $52.41, MercadoLibre fell 14.37% to $1,550.00, Moderna fell 8.07% to $183.96, and Nu Holdings fell 25.79% to $11.25. Among other active names, Lufax up 10.92% at $8.94, Hesai Group up 5.26% at $13.82, and Verizon was a positive standout after its latest operating update.

The move was uneven across sectors, but semiconductors and selected AI-linked stocks stayed supported, while some Brazil- and healthcare-related ADRs were hit hard. Because the market is still digesting corporate earnings and deal headlines, the biggest pre-open moves were concentrated in a handful of individual stories rather than a broad risk-on rally.

03 Key News

1. Verizon reported its strongest third-quarter postpaid phone additions in five years as a lower-subsidy strategy improved customer economics. The company said postpaid phone net additions reached 406,000, while promotional acquisition costs fell 41% and retention costs improved 30%. Verizon also said churn eased to 0.94%, suggesting its pricing and loyalty push is helping stabilize the base.

2. Bayer won China approval for asundexian, a stroke-prevention drug that became the first approved Factor XIa inhibitor worldwide. The company said the medicine, to be marketed as Sunharbo, was cleared to reduce recurrent stroke risk in adults after ischemic stroke or a high-risk transient ischemic attack. Bayer is counting on the drug to help offset declining sales of Xarelto after patent expiry.

3. Apollo Global Management is close to buying nearly 10% of Mubadala Capital, according to a media report. The report said the private-markets firm could announce the deal later in the morning, though financial terms were not disclosed. If completed, the transaction would deepen Apollo’s ties to a major Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth platform.

4. Horizon Robotics granted 37,759,920 share awards to 219 employees under its post-IPO incentive plan. 5. J&T Global Express disclosed a share buyback after repurchasing 1,734,000 shares for HKD 15.67 million. The company said the repurchased shares were bought in a range of HKD 8.77 to HKD 9.165 and will be held as treasury shares. Buybacks can reduce the share count and signal management’s confidence in valuation.

6. City Holding reported higher net interest income and raised its quarterly dividend by 15%. The regional bank said net interest income rose on better loan yields and higher balances, while non-interest income was helped by service charges and wealth-management fees. The dividend increase to $1.00 per share adds a shareholder-return angle to the earnings release.

7. Anthropic is reportedly preparing to file its S-1 registration statement as it moves toward an initial public offering. The report said the AI company’s public filing would be a key step toward a market debut that remains planned for later this year, subject to conditions. A filing would give investors their first detailed look at the company’s finances and risks.

8. Eni began the execution phase of its Cronos natural gas project offshore Cyprus after signing major construction contracts. The project includes engineering, procurement, construction, drilling, and subsea work, and Eni said it could produce up to 500 million standard cubic feet per day. The company expects output to begin in the first half of 2028.

9. Nanjing Leads Biolabs reported updated results from three studies of its experimental cancer drug LBL-024. The company said the drug showed encouraging survival and response data in neuroendocrine and biliary tract cancers, including a 70% tumor response rate in one study. The updates add fresh clinical evidence to its development pipeline.

10. Citywest Bancshares? D.A. Davidson raised its target price on Community West Bancshares, reflecting a fresh valuation call. The research update lifted the target to $31 from $29. While this is an analyst action rather than a corporate event, it is one of the day’s notable information items tied to a specific listed company.
