The 2025 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference Jiangsu Session and the Second Guolian Investor Conference were held in Wuxi on November 6, 2025, under the theme "Attracting Global Capital to Empower Modern Industries." Zhu Gongshan, Founder and Chairman of GCL (Group) Holdings Co., Ltd., emphasized in his speech that Wuxi is the birthplace of China's photovoltaic industry and a high ground for the new energy sector.
Zhu highlighted that GCL, as a green energy technology enterprise, has aligned closely with China's dual-carbon strategy during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, focusing on the synergy of technology, industry, and capital. The company has grown into China's leading non-state-owned power enterprise, covering all power generation forms except nuclear energy while maintaining technological and operational leadership.
He noted that GCL has built China's largest virtual power plant—the Wuxi Virtual Power Plant—which utilizes AI to enhance smart microgrids and distribution networks within the grid's energy storage clusters. Over the past two years, it has played a crucial role in Jiangsu Province's peak summer demand management, significantly contributing to Wuxi's economic and energy governance.
Zhu stressed that high-quality batteries require superior materials, pointing out that GCL's cathode material project is the world's only lithium iron phosphate (LFP) production using a "physical method" process. Additionally, he revealed that GCL will host an international new energy exhibition and forum in Wuxi next week, where it will release the "Initiative for Jointly Building a Global Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Center." This center will be permanently based in Wuxi, positioning the city as a hub for green and low-carbon economic development, industrial clustering, and standard-setting.
He emphasized that Wuxi has already formed a closed-loop new energy industrial chain encompassing power generation, storage, transmission, and application. With a robust industrial foundation, a complete supply chain, and significant ecological clustering effects, Wuxi aligns perfectly with China's 15th Five-Year Plan recommendations and should lead in new energy development.
"Wuxi is a strategic priority for GCL. We will deepen our collaboration with the city through platforms like Guolian Group, accelerating the deployment of GCL's integrated energy solutions, virtual power plants, zero-carbon parks, advanced materials, energy storage, and AI-driven new energy models in Wuxi," Zhu said. "Together, we aim to create a new benchmark in Jiangsu and nationwide, strengthening Wuxi's industrial chain and ecosystem."
