Man Wah Releases FY2026 ESG Report: Lower Water Use, Expanded Renewables and Zero-Accident Record

Man Wah Holdings published its Environmental, Social and Governance Report for the year ended 31 March 2026, outlining progress across governance, environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Governance Highlights • A three-tier ESG governance framework—Board, ESG Management Committee and Execution Team—oversees 19 material topics. • Internal audit covered factory operations, sales and joint ventures; four training sessions were conducted for audit staff. • Anti-corruption measures resulted in 12 validated reports, eight disciplinary actions and 260 employees completing 180 hours of integrity training.

Environmental Performance • Water consumption fell 7.10 % to 1.34 million tonnes, cutting intensity to 51.27 tonnes per person. • Total energy use rose 1.06 % to 262.74 million kWh; on-site solar and wind generation supplied 46.36 million kWh. • Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse-gas emissions inched up 1.26 % to 96,723 tonnes CO2e, with intensity at 3.71 tonnes CO2e per person. • No major environmental incidents were recorded, and all emissions met regulatory limits. • Hazardous waste increased to 1,037 tonnes (0.04 tonnes per person); non-hazardous waste was stable at 21,253 tonnes (0.82 tonnes per person).

Product & Innovation • R&D holdings total 1,259 patents, including 28 inventions; 151 patents were added during the year. • Digital initiatives—such as a BOM-centric integrated supply-chain system—were recognised as a “Pioneer” case in China Light Industry digital transformation. • Product recall rate remained at 0 %, while 100 % of finished goods passed factory quality tests.

Supply Chain • The group managed 2,194 suppliers, 98.85 % of whom signed integrity agreements. • 667 supplier training sessions were delivered, and quarterly performance reviews underpin continuous improvement.

Workforce & Safety • Headcount stood at 26,050, of which 63 % are male and 37 % female; permanent contracts represent 29.44 % of staff. • Employees logged 1.04 million training hours, averaging 39.8 hours each. • The lost-time injury rate improved as total accidents fell 25 %; no fatalities occurred. • The group conducted 182 emergency drills and 6,445 safety inspections, rectifying 96.29 % of identified hazards.

Community Investment • Charitable donations totalled HK$8.52 million, channelled mainly into education, healthcare and rural development. • The “Golden House in Books” programme has awarded 1,020 scholarships since launch, with RMB17.24 million disbursed to employees’ children.

Man Wah states that ESG targets for FY2027 include further reductions in resource intensity, expanded renewable-energy deployment and continued enhancement of supply-chain oversight.
