Omai Gold Technical Report Filed, Clarifying Valuation Assumptions for Gold Project

On October 8, the technical document was finalized, providing a more complete basis for verifying the valuation of the gold project. CPT Markets noted that Omai Gold announced on October 5 that it had filed a technical report supporting the preliminary economic assessment previously released in August.

The new development in this news is the filing of the report, not the start of production at the mine, nor the first-time disclosure of all production and financial forecasts on that day. The assessment is based on a gold price of US$3,600 per ounce and calculates an after-tax net present value of approximately US$4 billion at a 5% discount rate.

CPT Markets believes that any valuation figure must be read together with its assumptions: the report projects an 18-year mine life, average annual gold production of about 350,000 ounces, and requires approximately US$1.427 billion in initial capital, a scale of investment that cannot be ignored.

When the gold price assumption is raised to US$4,200 per ounce, the model's net present value rises to approximately US$5.5 billion, reflecting the project's sensitivity to the gold price. However, higher prices do not necessarily improve actual cash flow in the same proportion, as construction costs, recovery rates, and timelines may also change.

The preliminary assessment includes inferred resources, which have lower geological certainty and cannot be treated as confirmed mineable reserves. Net present value is the result of model discounting and does not equal corporate market value or the amount of cash currently available for distribution.

Regarding the project's next steps, CPT Markets analyzes that more valuable verification includes whether resource upgrades, engineering optimization, and financing arrangements can be progressively implemented. The technical report makes the model's boundaries clearer, but it does not guarantee that forecasts will be realized.

When comparing such gold development assets, it is necessary to read price scenarios and capital requirements together, and to separate the study phase from actual production capacity when making judgments.
