U.S. House Approves Approximately $70 Billion in Funding for Immigration Enforcement

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a significant funding bill for immigration enforcement agencies. The legislation, known as the Secure America Act, allocates around $70 billion to support operations through the end of the current presidential term.

This funding is designated for Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and the U.S. Border Patrol. The bill successfully passed the Senate last week and is now awaiting the President's signature to be enacted into law.

The passage follows a period of political debate. Proposals from Democrats to implement certain reforms to enforcement practices, including requirements for body-worn cameras and judicial warrants for home entries, were ultimately not included in the final version due to opposition from Republicans.
