In golden autumn October, the double festivals arrive, and century-old craftsmanship takes on a new appearance. The 8-day National Day and Mid-Autumn holiday is about to begin, and many time-honored brands in Beijing are adopting a three-dimensional strategy of "space reconstruction + taste revolution + warm resonance" to create immersive cultural consumption landmarks, sparking a new wave of trendy check-in enthusiasm.

Xilai Shun, established in 1930, quietly opened a "Halal Food Station" at the east entrance of Xisi North 6th Street. This small store located at 79 Xisi North Street not only replicates the signature Ma Lianliang duck from the main store but also holds surprises—the store's exclusive flavored meat pie. The store also offers various snacks including braised lamb trotters, braised beef, wild vegetable dumplings, whole wheat bean buns, and sugar fire-baked bread, allowing neighborhood residents to unlock the classic culinary skills of this time-honored brand right at their doorstep.

According to Zhang Liping, manager of Xilai Shun: "Some varieties are not even available at the main store, mainly launched for the convenience of neighbors' daily purchases. The Xilai Shun specialty meat pie in the store was guided by several masters and is exclusive to this small store, serving as a new landmark for hutong check-ins."

Kaorou Ji by Shichahai Lake is presenting a "non-heritage transformation on the tip of the tongue." National-level barbecue technique inheritors have incorporated Inner Mongolia sand onions, creating the innovative "Autumn Charm of the Northern Frontier Grilled Lamb Ribs," allowing diners to experience century-spanning ceremonial atmosphere amid the charcoal fire. Additionally, Kaorou Ji has also launched bone-in lamb chops.

Manager Lu Jianwei of Kaorou Ji explained: "On one hand, we innovate based on national-level intangible heritage barbecue techniques, continuously enhancing the participatory and taste experiences of the intangible heritage project. On the other hand, we gradually integrate the store's traditional techniques with different parts of lamb, striving to make Beijing's most delicious lamb dishes, which is the attraction for visitors to Shichahai to check in for cuisine at Kaorou Ji."

According to introduction, to enhance the intangible heritage experience during the Mid-Autumn Festival, on Mid-Autumn Day, Kaorou Ji will upgrade all regular wen-style barbecue to "Moon in Arms"—one of Kaorou Ji's eight-flavor barbecues—for free.

Not only Kaorou Ji is enhancing holiday experiences among intangible heritage time-honored brands, but Shaguoju has also launched a "Golden September Silver October Warm-hearted Strategy" for National Day and Mid-Autumn festivals, specially introducing braised crab in casserole and offering one free for customers ordering dry-fried fish. "Nothing tastes better than free food" has become this year's Golden Week theme for checking in at Shaguoju for joyful and warm-hearted cuisine.

Huguo Temple Snacks main store has not only made handmade mooncakes to celebrate Mid-Autumn but also offers a free gift box containing 8 types of Beijing-style snacks including donkey rolling, aiwowo, and pea yellow cake for customers purchasing birthday peach gift boxes for elderly birthday celebrations during the National Day holiday. It is understood that Huguo Temple Snacks main store's birthday peach gift box includes 9 birthday peaches, 9 strands of 9.9-meter-long longevity noodles, and 9 longevity cakes, making it a signature product for elderly birthday celebrations in Beijing.

"This year, our handmade mooncakes are particularly popular," Zhang Meng, manager of Huguo Temple Snacks main store, told us. "There are five flavors in total: five-nut, jujube paste, red bean paste, egg yolk, and black sesame. Among them, the five-nut, black sesame, and egg yolk fillings are all supervised by the store's masters."

Kaorou Wan, with 357 years of history, will offer free mooncakes to dining customers on Mid-Autumn Day. Old Xi'an Restaurant Gulou branch will add Northwestern specialty stir-fried pao mo during the National Day period.
