U.S. Stock Market Moves: Memory Sector Surges, SanDisk Corp. Jumps Over 5%

The memory storage sector is experiencing a broad rally in Friday trading, with several key players posting significant gains.

SanDisk Corp. (SNDK.US) shares are surging more than 5%, while Micron Technology (MU.US) and Western Digital Corp. (WDC.US) are both advancing over 3%. Additionally, SK Hynix (SKHY.US) and Seagate Technology Holdings Plc (STX.US) are trading more than 2% higher.

The catalyst for this upward movement is a major investor event held by SanDisk on Thursday, August 13. During its 2026 Investor Day, the company unveiled a long-term financial model, outlining a set of ambitious targets for the 2028 to 2030 fiscal years. Key projections include achieving mid-to-high double-digit revenue growth during that period.

SanDisk also addressed market concerns regarding bit growth, clarifying that its available bit supply will be adjusted based on profitability optimization needs. Furthermore, the company made a significant commitment to return 100% of its remaining cash to shareholders after completing business investments.

Analysts at Goldman Sachs have highlighted that SanDisk not only provided long-term financial guidance that far exceeded market expectations—including an 80% gross margin and a 75% operating margin—but also delivered a powerful pledge to return 100% of its excess free cash flow to shareholders. The firm also noted that SanDisk’s next-generation High-Bandwidth Flash (HBF) technology roadmap for AI inference presents substantial upside potential. Goldman Sachs reiterated its "Buy" rating on SanDisk Corp., setting a 12-month price target of $2,200. This target is based on a 20x P/E multiple on normalized earnings per share of $110, representing approximately 44% upside from the current trading price of $1,528.
