Shares of LYGEND RESOURCE (02245) have surged more than 7% again, bringing the cumulative gain for the week close to 40%. As of writing, the stock is up 7.21% to HK$14.42, with a turnover of HK$55.4115 million.
The catalyst for the move is an announcement made on June 4th. The company declared that all production lines of the KPS project, part of the second phase of its RKEF project, officially commenced commercial operations in May 2026.
This project, a joint investment with Indonesian partners on Obi Island, Indonesia, comprises 12 production lines with an annual designed capacity of 185,000 metal tonnes of nickel pig iron.
The full-scale operation of the KPS project signifies that the company's entire Obi project is now fully operational, achieving a scaled annual production capacity of 400,000 metal tonnes of nickel.
The announcement noted that the Obi project's orderly commissioning as planned continues to enhance the company's overall economies of scale and steadily increase its market share in nickel products.
This development is seen as creating favorable conditions for the company to further reduce costs, increase efficiency, and optimize resource allocation. It is expected to drive improvements both in corporate profitability and industry influence.
