As the golden passion fruit enters its peak ripening season, the 300-mu plantation in Shuibei Village, Daba Town, has kicked off its busiest harvest period, with total output projected to reach one million jin this year.

At the passion fruit growing base in Shuibei Village, sprawling vines stretch across the fields in lush greenery, dotted with golden-yellow fruits that emit a fragrant aroma. Workers move swiftly between the trellises, hand-picking ripe fruit, while baskets of freshly harvested produce are quickly transported to the sorting center for grading and packaging.

A representative from the passion fruit base in Shuibei Village noted that this year's cultivation area stands at 300 mu, with an average yield of around 3,000 jin per mu, bringing the total estimated output to one million jin. Despite heavier-than-usual rainfall this season, the per-mu yield has fortunately remained steady.

Renowned for its golden skin, juicy flesh, and refreshingly sweet flavor, the golden passion fruit continues to see strong demand in the market, with orders far exceeding supply. The extended harvest window, stretching from summer through late autumn and into early winter, ensures that fresh fruit remains widely popular among consumers in the Pearl River Delta region.

The base representative added that the current period marks the peak harvesting phase, with picking operations set to continue until December, when colder temperatures will bring the season to a close. As market demand currently outpaces supply, the fruit is primarily sold through wholesale and retail channels to the Pearl River Delta. Once this batch is fully harvested, we will take advantage of favorable weather to carry out weeding operations. Through tilling and soil loosening, we aim to ensure proper care and maintenance of the fruit trees.

In recent years, Shuibei Village in Daba Town has leveraged its local land resource advantages to actively develop specialty fruit and vegetable cultivation. Anchored by the golden passion fruit industry, the village has revitalized land assets, created nearby employment opportunities for villagers, and turned a modest specialty crop into a driver of prosperity, fueling ongoing rural revitalization efforts.
