On June 4th at 10 AM, the leading Chinese civil service exam preparation institution, Fenbi (ASX: FENBI), issued a formal apology via its official Weibo account. Addressing the controversy stemming from CEO Zhang Xiaolong's recent lecture at Renmin University, Zhang personally acknowledged in the statement that his "improper personal conduct, including leaving midway and making inappropriate remarks, caused distress to the teachers and students present." He offered a sincere apology to the university and the School of Philosophy, accepted full responsibility for the incident, and stated his willingness to bear the corresponding consequences.

According to circulating audio recordings and accounts from multiple students present, on June 3rd, Zhang Xiaolong was invited to give a lecture at Renmin University's School of Philosophy. He reportedly changed the topic on the spot to "Career Planning in the AI Era" and shared details about his personal wealth. Allegedly due to a tepid response from the audience, Zhang lost his temper, engaging in a minutes-long profanity-laced tirade against the students. He was also reported to have publicly declared that "those taking civil service exams are just idling away their lives," before storming off the stage.

The incident quickly gained traction on social media, sparking widespread public outrage. As the founder of a publicly listed education company heavily reliant on revenue from civil service exam candidates, his public emotional outburst and wholesale denigration of his own core customer base drew sharp criticism online, with many accusing him of "biting the hand that feeds him." Currently, a significant number of angry netizens and Fenbi students are calling for a boycott of the company and demanding refunds on social media platforms.
