Power equipment stocks experienced a broad decline in Hong Kong trading today. Weichai Power (02338) fell 4.30% to HK$30.24, while Dongfang Electric (01072) dropped 3.67% to HK$19.67. Chongqing Machinery & Electric (02722) declined 1.63% to HK$1.81, and Shanghai Electric (02727) slipped 1.53% to HK$2.895.

On the news front, SpaceX is currently building a foundry in Bastrop, Texas, dedicated to producing large-scale gas turbine blades and vanes. Elon Musk noted that these components represent a critical bottleneck in scaling up gas turbine deployment. By manufacturing these parts internally, SpaceX aims to shorten the timeline for bringing gas turbines online by up to 18 months, helping to alleviate the power supply constraints driven by the rapid expansion of AI data centers.

According to a research note from Sinolink Securities, gas turbines are poised to become the preferred power solution for AI data centers over the long term, thanks to their generation stability, suitability for peak-load shaving, high output, and cost efficiency. Since 2024, overseas leaders such as GE Vernova and Siemens Energy have seen sustained strong order growth, with backlog visibility extending beyond five years, underscoring the sector's robust momentum.
