Musk Claims Solving Aging Is Not Difficult, But May Not Be a Boon for Human Society

Elon Musk stated during a conversation with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink at the World Economic Forum on Thursday that aging is a "completely solvable problem."

Musk said, "When we figure out the cause of aging, I believe we will find it's actually quite obvious. It's not some obscure thing. The reason I say it's not obscure is that all the cells in your body, you know, age at almost the same rate. I've never seen someone in my life whose left arm ages while their right arm stays young, so why is that? There must be a synchronized clock among the 35 trillion cells in your body."

However, Musk believes that lifespan extension also carries some negative consequences.

"You know, death actually has its positive aspects. There is a reason why we don't have longer lifespans, because if people really lived extremely long lives, I think it could lead to societal rigidity, it would make everything stagnate," he stated. "Society could become lifeless, become stagnant. But then again, I believe we will definitely find ways to extend lifespans, and it's even possible to reverse the aging process. I think that's very possible."
