Circle to Announce Q2 Financial Results on August 5th, Investor Focus on USDC Circulation and Yield

Circle Internet Corp., the primary issuer of the stablecoin USDC, has announced it will release its second-quarter financial results before the U.S. market opens on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. A live webcast to discuss the financial outcomes and business highlights is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time on the same day.

Key Areas of Market Focus

The upcoming earnings report is drawing significant market attention. As the issuer of USDC, Circle's business model hinges on three critical variables: the total circulation of USDC, the yield generated from its reserve assets, and the proportion of that yield it retains after paying fees to distribution platforms.

Revenue and Yield Outlook

Regarding revenue, the yield from reserves in the second quarter is anticipated to be largely consistent with the first quarter. While USDC circulation decreased modestly from $77 billion in Q1 to approximately $73 billion, this impact was partially offset by a rise in short-term market interest rates driven by energy market shocks related to the Iran conflict during the quarter. However, the company may face pressure from rising distribution costs. Circle's retained yield in the first quarter was 41.4%, exceeding management's guidance range of 38% to 40% for fiscal 2026. Analysts express concern that new agreements, such as the one with decentralized exchange Hyperliquid in May and the upcoming renewal negotiations with Coinbase on their existing partnership in August, could increase distribution costs. This may push the retained yield back down within the guided range.

Regulatory Milestone

Circle has recently achieved a significant regulatory advancement. On July 10, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency formally approved its application for a national trust bank charter. This approval is expected to allow Circle deeper integration into the regulated financial system. Analysts project this charter could contribute approximately $20 million in additional annual revenue for the company.

Stock Performance and Recent Results

Despite these developments, Circle's stock price has experienced a substantial decline from its all-time high of around $299 in June 2025. By mid-July, the shares were trading in a range of $60 to $64, representing a drop of over 75%. For the first quarter, the company reported revenue of $694 million, a 20% year-over-year increase, but its earnings per share of $0.21 fell short of market expectations.
