Hong Kong Stocks Midday Update | Hang Seng Index Falls 0.97% in Morning Session, Optical Communication and PCB Concepts Rally Against the Trend

Hong Kong stocks experienced a weak morning session, with the Hang Seng Index declining 0.97%, dropping 248 points to close the morning at 25,402 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index also fell by 1%. Total turnover for the morning session reached HK$123 billion.

Optical communication concept stocks led the gains, driven by intensifying competition in the AI computing power sector. The validation of GPT-6 has accelerated the race for computational resources, with institutions pointing to sustained benefits for the optical communication industry. CIG (06166) surged over 21%, while Zhongji Innolight (03308) climbed 13% and YOFC (06869) rose more than 7%.

PCB concept stocks also moved higher across the board. PCB manufacturers have collectively announced price increases, and institutions suggest that the earnings growth trajectory for the third quarter is poised to accelerate. Guanghe Technology (01989) jumped 13.69%, Victory Giant Technology (02476) gained 11%, and Kingboard Laminates (01888) advanced 7.7%.

The launch of GPT-6 Astra holds significant implications for the computing power industry. Zhongji Innolight (03308) rose over 13%, and Canton Cloud Computing (01396) added 6.8%.

Duiba (01753) soared 26%, accumulating a gain of more than 400% over the past 12 trading sessions, as its AI short-drama commercialization capabilities are rapidly being validated.

Jinhai Medical Technology (02225) gained over 19% after being included in the Stock Connect list, with the company seeing a significant improvement in its revenue structure during the first half of the year.

Agentai-P (07666) rose over 8%, leading the AI pharmaceutical sector in Hong Kong, as AI4S commercialization accelerates.

Sanchuan Group (06951) climbed more than 10% following Samsung Electro-Mechanics securing a large MLCC order, confirming the continued rise in MLCC industry prosperity.

MiniMax-W (00100) rose over 3% in the morning session, with its H3 model surpassing 24 million downloads within three weeks of launch.

Zhongke Wenge (01956) gained over 8% after officially entering the Stock Connect list, with first-half revenue growing more than 40% year-over-year.

On the downside, Haichang Ocean Park (02255) plunged over 15% as it was removed from the Stock Connect list effective today, with the company's first-half loss widening to HK$332 million. Liontron Holdings (02562) fell over 32% to a record low after being excluded from the Stock Connect list, despite northbound traders still holding as much as 40% of its shares.
