The Su'nit Left Banner General Airport has entered the formal construction phase of its airfield pavement project, marking a critical milestone and the start of the construction sprint. The project began construction on October 20, 2025, with all cement-stabilized base layers now completed. Airfield pavement work officially began on August 8, with various supporting projects advancing simultaneously, ensuring efficient and orderly progress on site.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of October. Once it receives its certification, the number of certified A1 general aviation airports in Inner Mongolia will increase from 19 to 20. According to the latest data from the General Aviation Airport Information Platform, Inner Mongolia currently has 25 general aviation airports, including 19 certified A1 airports, 2 Class B general aviation airports, and 4 other landing sites. The number of certified A1 general aviation airports ranks first in the country.

The 19 certified A1 general aviation airports include: Aluke'erqin, Damao Baimiao Temple, Wudangzhao, Hailiutu, Qingshuihe Laoniuwan, Yindeer, Baogede, Arong, Xianghuangqi Xinbaolage, Etuokeqianqi Aolezhaoqi, Molidawa, Tuquan Taiping, Bairin Left Banner Lindong, Bairin Right Banner Daban, Hexigten Ulanbutong, Hexigten Asihatu, West Ujumqin Balaguer, Uxinqi Galutu, and Otog Banner Wulan.

The Su'nit Left Banner General Airport is classified as A1 level, with a total budget of 64.8572 million yuan. It is being jointly funded by the Inner Mongolia Civil Aviation Airport Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd. and the Su'nit Left Banner State-owned Assets Company. The project includes building a new 1,200-meter runway, along with comprehensive service buildings, garages, auxiliary facilities, and a full set of fire protection, power supply, air traffic control, and meteorological equipment.

As a key livelihood project for Su'nit Left Banner, the airport's construction not only improves the regional transportation network but also addresses gaps in comprehensive services, allowing the public to share in convenient public services. Once operational, the airport will primarily handle short-haul air transport tasks, while also supporting general aviation services such as crop dusting, emergency rescue, and disaster relief. It will further enhance the comprehensive transportation system in northern Xilingol League, open up an aerial emergency channel for pastoral areas, and empower grassland ecological protection, disaster prevention and mitigation, and the development of the cultural tourism industry.
