HSBC Holdings PLC CEO Georges Elhedery revealed during the bank's second-quarter earnings call on Tuesday that its Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) division has been appointed for 70 initial public offerings (IPOs) across Asia, with 40 of those mandates coming from Hong Kong. This marks a significant improvement compared to previous years.

Elhedery stated that CIB holds a leading position in many of the businesses it currently operates. The bank's trade lending has grown by 30%, demonstrating its strength and resilience in the global market. "HSBC is benefiting from new trends such as 'Asia buying Asia,' a trend that we are uniquely and exceptionally well-positioned to capitalize on compared to many of our peers," Elhedery said.

Regarding his personal involvement, Elhedery added, "As for my own input and commitment, you would expect a group CEO of a large company like HSBC to personally engage in multiple client relationships across the full range of services we offer. It is a privilege to support our business and earn the trust of clients as we drive these operations and capital flows."

According to statistics from RyanBen, HSBC acted as a sponsor for one IPO in 2025 (Zhaogang.com, stock code: 06676) and two IPOs in 2026 (Guanghe Technology, stock code: 01989, and Dingtai High-Tech, stock code: 01377). Currently, the bank is involved in the pending listings of various companies, including Kaos IoT, Shenji Pharmaceutical, Wus Printed Circuit (stock code: 002463.SZ), Yiwu Commodity Market (stock code: 600415.SH), Tian Tong Vision, Freetech, Nuanwa Insight, Jingyin Pharmaceutical, and Medtrust Health.
