Argentina's government sold US dollars again on Friday, marking the fourth market intervention this week to prevent the peso from declining, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

The central bank conducted the dollar-selling operation, though it frequently acts as the Treasury's financial agent in the local foreign exchange market.

The Argentine central bank sold dollars at a rate of 1,425 pesos per dollar, with the amount ranging between $196 million and $216 million, the sources revealed. The sources requested anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly.

The peso remained stable for the second consecutive day on Friday, trading at 1,425 pesos per dollar.

The Argentine government also sold dollars in the spot market on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Note: An IMF agreement prohibits Argentina's central bank from selling foreign exchange reserves within a floating band, which stood at 944 to 1,482 pesos per dollar on Friday.

The Argentine central bank declined to comment, while the Ministry of Economy did not respond to requests for comment.
