A top executive from a Bitcoin mining company with ties to Eric Trump is departing to join an AI and energy infrastructure developer, signaling a broader industry shift. Matt Prusak, President and Interim CFO of American Bitcoin, will leave his role on August 4 to take up the positions of Chief Commercial Officer and Interim CFO at Giga Energy.

This transition highlights the accelerating trend of the Bitcoin mining sector pivoting toward energy and data center infrastructure. Prusak stated that after years dedicated to Bitcoin, he is moving "upstream" into the power infrastructure sector, which he identifies as the current bottleneck limiting both mining and AI computing growth.

American Bitcoin, a Nasdaq-listed company co-founded by Eric Trump with Hut 8 among its shareholders, saw Prusak play a key role in its Bitcoin accumulation strategy. His new employer, Giga Energy, is based in Houston and specializes in developing power equipment and AI data center infrastructure. The company has already delivered over 6.5 gigawatts of power infrastructure and has more than 500 megawatts of AI-ready data center capacity under construction.

Prusak's career move underscores the accelerating shift of Bitcoin miners toward the AI sector. As Bitcoin mining becomes increasingly commoditized and profit margins come under pressure, more mining companies are leveraging their expertise in power, land, and data center construction to expand into AI computing infrastructure.
