AI Firm Anthropic Unveils Cost-Effective New Model to Address Enterprise Budget Pressures and Market Rivalry

American artificial intelligence startup Anthropic released its new "Claude Opus 5" AI model on Friday. With enterprise clients increasingly focused on the cost of deploying AI and intensifying competition within the industry, the company is positioning "high cost-effectiveness" as the model's core advantage, aiming to meet mainstream demand for daily office tasks and business automation.

According to Anthropic, the newly released Opus 5 model approaches the performance and task-handling capabilities of its flagship model, Fable 5, yet costs only half as much to use. The company anticipates that the model's strong value proposition will make it the preferred choice for enterprise clients handling routine daily office tasks. Anthropic's research product management lead, Dianne Penn, stated that the model's launch is a direct response to client demands for "how to create greater value on their investment."

As companies globally begin to rigorously scrutinize spending on artificial intelligence, major industry players including OpenAI, Meta, and SpaceXAI are all accelerating the launch of more cost-efficient models. Industry analysts note that, facing heightened enterprise sensitivity to AI deployment costs and competitive pressure from low-cost solutions in markets like China, the AI industry is shifting from a pure focus on pushing technical boundaries toward prioritizing commercial practicality and economic returns.
