On April 15, XPeng Group Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng delivered a speech at the XPeng GX technology launch event. He stated that the XPeng GX is the company’s first full-size flagship SUV, with "G" symbolizing greatness and "X" representing exploration. The model integrates cutting-edge technologies such as Robotaxi autonomous driving, safety redundancy from flying cars, embodied intelligence chips, and architecture, serving as the first vehicle built on XPeng’s new-generation physical AI architecture, SEPA 3.0.
In terms of safety, He explained that the GX incorporates three major safety systems: passive safety, active safety, and aviation-grade redundant safety. The vehicle is equipped with 11 airbags and has successfully passed an industry-first 720° multi-scenario collision test, covering scenarios such as underbody impacts, water wading, front and side collisions, and roof compression. It supports 150 km/h automatic emergency braking and 130 km/h emergency steering assist, and features a driver impairment assistance system. The GX also debuts the industry’s first EIS impedance spectrum battery management system and introduces aviation-grade six-domain safety redundancy, covering steering, braking, drive, communication, power supply, and unlocking.
He highlighted that the XPeng GX is China’s first mass-produced Robotaxi prototype vehicle, designed to meet L4 autonomous driving standards. It is equipped with industry-leading effective computing power of 3,000 TOPS, providing robust hardware support for advanced autonomous driving. The model also features XPeng’s second-generation VLA, which integrates high-speed autonomous driving, voice-controlled vehicle functions, and intelligent lighting communication. It offers campus roaming capability, supports continuous fuzzy semantic dialogue via cloud or local VLM, and enables autonomous parking in highway service areas. Additionally, it includes AI digital projection headlights.
The GX is the first to feature AI dimmable privacy glass and an AI sterile air-cooled double-door car refrigerator. It comes with a 21.4-inch 3K eye-care display and a premium audio system with 33 speakers. The model also debuts a whole-vehicle soft air conditioning system and offers three-row electric triple-folding seats, including two zero-gravity seats and one aviation-style comfort seat. The third row supports 50:50 independent storage, enabling configurations such as a four-seat mode that can accommodate two 24-inch and two 20-inch bicycles, a five-seat mode that fits five golf bags vertically, and a six-seat mode where each passenger can store a dedicated 24-inch suitcase. The GX also boasts the largest cargo space in its class, with a maximum volume of 673 liters and a trunk opening width of 1,251 mm.
The XPeng GX is available in two variants: the 1585 four-wheel drive super range-extended flagship edition and the 750 four-wheel drive pure electric flagship edition. Pre-sale pricing starts at ¥399,800, with display models arriving at showrooms across China starting April 18.
