GIGADEVICE Shares Surge Over 8% in Both A and H Markets as Top Investor Adds Position Amid Supply Shortage Outlook

Shares of GIGADEVICE (03986) surged more than 8% in both A-share and H-share markets this morning, with the stock trading up 7.1% at HK$529.5 by press time, on turnover of HK$1.613 billion.

The rally follows the company's announcement regarding the top ten shareholders and top ten unrestricted shareholders before its A-share share buyback. Despite significant price volatility in the second quarter, filings show that prominent A-share market investor Ge Weidong did not reduce his position but instead increased his holdings in GIGADEVICE.

Data reveals that Ge Weidong and his wife Wang Ping collectively added over 1.21 million A-shares of GIGADEVICE since the start of the second quarter. Ge had previously posted on social media that he remains bullish on AI, stating, "I believe it's not over yet."

Analysts at TrendForce suggest that the supply shortage of DRAM is expected to persist through 2027, with price increases likely lasting until the second half of 2027. BOCOM International also maintains a positive outlook on China's memory chip manufacturers, noting that memory remains a critical bottleneck in AI infrastructure. They argue that capacity upgrades at major fabs still fail to meet demand and expect the supply-demand imbalance to continue at least until the fourth quarter of 2027.
