The European Commission has given the green light to a fresh defense procurement initiative for Ukraine valued at €6.1 billion, as detailed in an official statement. This package is designed to bolster Ukraine's military capabilities, with a focus on air defense and missile defense systems, missiles, ammunition, and radar technology.

This funding forms a component of the broader €90 billion Ukrainian aid loan framework. Prior to this approval, the Commission had already sanctioned procurement plans worth €16 billion, of which €8.35 billion has been disbursed to date.

A significant portion of the contracts under this new scheme is expected to be awarded to defense firms based within the European Union, reinforcing the bloc's commitment to supporting Ukraine while also strengthening its own defense industrial base.
