Spring Service in Action: Coordinated Trunk and Feeder Routes Smooth the Way for Efficient Overseas Shipment of New Energy Vehicle KD Parts

A shipment of new energy vehicle KD parts was recently loaded onto a vessel at Rizhao Port in Shandong. After being transported via a feeder line to Qingdao Port, the parts were quickly transferred to an international trunk line vessel bound for Southeast Asia. This cross-port collaborative operation, which utilizes "feeder line collection at the port and trunk line shipment overseas," is a practical measure by Rizhao Port to support the Belt and Road Initiative and smooth international logistics channels for new energy products. It also provides a stable and efficient export pathway for domestic new energy products to expand into markets along the route.

Addressing the characteristics of KD parts—being precision-made, easily damaged, diverse in category, and requiring strict transport coordination standards—the dedicated business team from the Container Branch Company took proactive steps. They made multiple visits to the manufacturing plants to thoroughly understand customer shipping needs and collaborated with Shandong Ocean Shipping Group to develop customized "one-on-one" logistics solutions. This approach enabled comprehensive optimization across the entire chain, from container allocation and short-distance trucking to on-site loading and the seamless connection between feeder and trunk line vessel schedules.

"We took the initiative to visit the factories and monitor the details, pre-planning the packing and securing solutions for every batch of KD parts and matching specialized brackets for different sizes and piece types. Upon the feeder vessel's arrival at Qingdao Port, it directly connected with the trunk vessel operations, ensuring zero delays in transfer," said Fei Hongtao, Head of the Market Development Department at the Container Branch Company.

For this operation, the Container Branch Company leveraged mechanisms for trunk-feeder coordination, schedule sharing, and a green channel for transfers. This established the "feeder collection, trunk shipment" express lane as a routine service, significantly simplifying the transfer process and stabilizing transit times. Furthermore, the company actively adhered to the principle of "customer first, service supreme," strictly implementing refined protective measures, standardized loading/unloading procedures, and zoned storage management.

Concurrently, Rizhao Port coordinated with customs, maritime safety, and other relevant units to implement a customs clearance model of "advanced declaration, direct loading upon arrival," further enhancing clearance and operational efficiency. Looking ahead, the Container Branch Company plans to utilize the integrated container operation advantages of Shandong Port to deepen its focus on the export sector for "new three" products. It aims to further optimize the logistics system for trunk-feeder connectivity, upgrade customized end-to-end logistics services, and fully commit to smoothing the overseas shipment channel for new energy products, thereby supporting the efficient global expansion of "Made in China" goods.
