Two pivotal infrastructure projects at Shandong Port's Qingdao Port have achieved critical construction milestones, laying a solid foundation for enhancing the port's cargo handling and overall throughput capacity.

On June 6th, the Fenjin North Road diversion route, part of the new interchange project on the north shore of Qianwan Port Area, was successfully opened to traffic. The operation of this diversion route will effectively alleviate traffic pressure for cargo collection and distribution at Qianwan Port Area, improve the temporary road network system on the north shore, and support the full-speed construction of the main interchange structure, contributing to the upgrade of port infrastructure.

The project construction faced challenges including high traffic volume, limited site space, and complex underground pipelines. To ensure progress, the project management department led a coordinated effort involving multiple divisions. With support and guidance from the Free Trade Zone Administrative Committee and the Traffic Police Brigade of the Port and Shipping Public Security Bureau, the team successfully completed the optical cable cutover in a critical area, strictly adhering to safety protocols and achieving the traffic opening goal on schedule.

On June 7th, after 50 consecutive days of intensive work, the second temporary cofferdam—a key control structure measuring 339.4 meters in total length for the No. 7-8 Berth Project at the North Third Wharf in Dongjiakou Port Area—was successfully closed. This achievement creates the essential precondition for the full-scale commencement of subsequent wharf main structure and land-based engineering works.

This project is a major national initiative, planning to construct two 100,000-ton multipurpose berths, along with supporting rear storage yards and a complete set of auxiliary facilities. Upon completion, the project will further enhance the comprehensive throughput capacity of Dongjiakou Port Area and optimize the functional layout of Qingdao Port.
