A container train loaded with e-commerce goods from JD Logistics departed from the Dahongmen freight yard of China Railway Beijing Bureau on the morning of August 14, marking the official launch of the "JD" e-commerce train service connecting the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to an announcement from the railway bureau.

This service enhances and refines the multimodal logistics channel for e-commerce deliveries in the capital region. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, with its high concentration of e-commerce industries and strong market vitality, serves as a key northern hub for e-commerce goods distribution. Daily shipments include a wide range of products such as household items, appliances, home furnishings, baby and beauty products, and digital devices, all destined for major consumer cities in the Greater Bay Area.

Previously, these goods were primarily transported by long-haul trucks, which faced challenges such as high costs, variable delivery times, and instability due to extreme weather and road congestion. To address these issues, China Railway Beijing Bureau began trial operations of an e-commerce train service from Guangyang freight yard to Guangdong in early 2026, tailored to meet the market-oriented, routine, and efficient logistics needs of e-commerce companies.

Recognizing the e-commerce industry's pattern of nighttime sorting and early-morning dispatch, the Beijing Logistics Center of China Railway Beijing Bureau moved JD Logistics' e-commerce cargo to the Dahongmen freight yard for shipping. Compared to the original site, Dahongmen offers more flexible loading times, aligning with the nighttime shipping rhythm of e-commerce and significantly improving cargo collection efficiency and service quality.

Building on successful trial results, the railway and logistics company have deepened their collaboration to create a dedicated freight brand, officially launching the "JD" e-commerce train. This train operates on a fixed schedule, running five times per week, directly to the Daliang freight yard in the Greater Bay Area. It provides a one-stop multimodal service, establishing a stable, efficient, and direct north-south logistics corridor for e-commerce goods between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the southern Chinese consumer market.

In the transport operations, the Guangyang freight yard maintains its original cargo handling model, while the Dahongmen yard has set up a dedicated e-commerce space for JD Logistics, allowing dynamic allocation of capacity based on market demand. This enables goods to be collected and shipped as they arrive, ensuring efficient turnover. Alongside improving freight handling capabilities, China Railway Beijing Bureau is enhancing support services at the yard. The Dahongmen facility is developing a driver rest area, optimizing workspace, upgrading amenities with showers and laundry facilities, and installing vending machines with snacks and drinks to address drivers' rest and replenishment needs, boosting the yard's overall service quality and market-oriented logistics support.

Looking ahead, China Railway Beijing Bureau plans to deepen its strategic partnership with e-commerce platforms, continue improving the quality of dedicated train services, and expand its railway commercial logistics product portfolio. It aims to keep the two-way logistics corridor between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and southern China open, leveraging the railway's green, efficient, and stable transport advantages. The bureau will also work to grow market-oriented logistics volumes and strengthen the "Jing Tie Freight" service brand, supporting high-quality development of regional economies and the modern e-commerce industry through superior railway logistics.
