Eli Lilly (LLY.US) released detailed results from the TRIUMPH-2 study on September 30, according to a report.
TRIUMPH-2 is a Phase III clinical trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of retatrutide in adults who are obese or overweight and have type 2 diabetes.
Retatrutide is a polypeptide drug developed by Eli Lilly based on the GIP peptide sequence that simultaneously targets the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), the glucagon receptor (GCGR), and the gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR), with an average half-life of up to 6 days in the human body.
Retatrutide is currently the most advanced GLP-1R/GIPR/GCGR agonist in development. Eli Lilly plans to submit a Biologics License Application (BLA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the first quarter of 2027.
Additional results from the obstructive sleep apnea trial within the TRIUMPH-2 study will be presented at future medical conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.
