At a regular press conference on the morning of November 12, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, responded to questions regarding the DPP's obstruction of mainland e-commerce platforms like Taobao and PDD Holdings Inc from operating in Taiwan.

When asked about recent public concern in Taiwan over whether mainland e-commerce platforms such as Taobao and PDD could establish operations on the island, Chen noted that Taiwan's economic authorities have stated these platforms are legally barred from operating locally and are considering stricter regulations on offshore e-commerce.

Chen emphasized that mainland e-commerce platforms offer diverse and affordable products, widely favored by people on both sides of the strait. Their potential launch in Taiwan would benefit local consumers and businesses alike. He criticized the DPP authorities for unjustly obstructing these platforms, further exposing their habitual anti-China stance in pursuit of "independence" and their consistent opposition to the interests of Taiwanese citizens, which has eroded public trust.
