On March 2, 2026, ZTE Corporation officially launched the AIR MAX solution at MWC26 Barcelona. Centered on maximizing energy efficiency, workforce efficiency, and investment efficiency, the solution aims to create the optimal mobile network for the AI era, empowering operators in their business transformation and value enhancement. ZTE's Senior Vice President Zhang Wanchun delivered the opening keynote speech, outlining the company's development vision for the new era of mobile intelligence. He stated, "Since the debut of ChatGPT in late 2022, the global technology landscape has undergone a fundamental transformation. Computing costs continue to decline, intelligence levels are accelerating, and AI agents and terminals are emerging and proliferating rapidly. This widespread AI adoption is profoundly reshaping the economy and society. For the mobile communications industry, we are accelerating from the 'Data Era' to a new epoch of 'Data + Token.' ZTE will actively promote the transformation of mobile networks and collaborate with industry partners to embrace new historical opportunities." ZTE Vice President and General Manager of Strategic Architecture for Wireless and Computing Power Products, Tang Xue, provided a comprehensive and detailed interpretation of AIR MAX, clearly explaining how it redefines the core value of mobile networks for the AI era. "Facing the AI era with its explosive growth of new services, AIR MAX is precisely the optimal mobile network solution we are providing to the industry," said Tang Xue. "In 2025, we introduced the AIR solution. Today, we are shifting our focus from network performance to business value. Guided by the core concept of 'Serving AI with AI,' AIR MAX focuses on systematic capability upgrades driven by three major goals: maximizing energy efficiency, human efficiency, and investment efficiency, thereby establishing a new paradigm for mobile networks in the AI era." In the AI era, under the new economic paradigm of "Bit+Token," the core challenges for operators are how to seize AI development opportunities, upgrade mobile networks from mere data pipes to AI engines, reduce energy consumption and labor costs, enhance service value and investment returns, and build a sustainable growth flywheel of "Create More, Save More." ZTE's AIR MAX centers on ten full-stack AI capabilities, systematically upgrading the AI-oriented mobile network framework. It constructs a three-layer capability system comprising AI-native infrastructure, L4 autonomous operations, and a monetization engine. This continuous effort drives upgrades in technical architecture, production efficiency, and business models, reshaping the mobile network into a new paradigm centered on AI and capable of serving AI. It comprehensively empowers operators in their capability evolution, service transformation, business model shift, and ecosystem reshaping for the AI era. The AI-native infrastructure layer focuses on upgrading the technical architecture. Based on two core principles—highly efficient and scalable AI computing, and lightweight, real-time deployable models—it achieves breakthroughs in network performance and energy efficiency through four key capabilities: First, embedded AI Radio deeply integrates AI into wireless equipment. Leveraging algorithms like AI DPD, it reduces power amplifier energy consumption by 35-40% compared to traditional amplifiers. MIMO enhancement technologies such as AI-coordinated beam optimization and AI channel estimation improve spectral efficiency by 20%. Second, a heterogeneous computing architecture (ASIC AI+xPU) provides efficient and flexible computing power for communication and AI workloads. The industry-leading AIR Engine has been deployed in over 150,000 sites globally. Third, AI-driven GigaMIMO achieves ultra-high throughput of 192 Gbps and a six-fold improvement in edge rates. Fourth, AI-enabled integrated sensing and communication achieves a drone recognition accuracy rate exceeding 95%, supporting high-precision sensing applications. The L4 autonomous operations layer is dedicated to a leap in production efficiency, moving towards end-to-end L4 autonomy. Relying on a "1+N" low-hallucination model matrix where a general large model collaborates with specialized small models, it achieves a 92% accuracy rate in autonomous decision-making and 95% factual consistency. This has been implemented in 20 high-value scenarios. Co-Sight 2.0, an agent factory, enables minute-level generation of industrial-grade reliable agents, leading the industry in development efficiency. Co-Claw digital employees support end-to-end collaboration among multiple agents, enabling closed-loop operations with minimal staff. In TM Forum's autonomous network ratings, intelligent capabilities like wireless energy saving and fault management have reached industry-leading levels. The monetization engine layer promotes business model innovation, continuously expanding the value boundaries for operators. Through "first-class service + scenario-based value-added packages," it enables experience monetization, accelerating the shift from traffic management to experience management. By leveraging wide-area deterministic connectivity, low-latency, low-cost distributed computing power, and massive real-time data, it builds a high-value AI service loop, empowering the inclusive development of affordable Token services. It establishes a secure and efficient AI agent service system, supporting capabilities such as agent authentication (similar to eSIM), on-demand subnet orchestration, and end-edge-cloud collaborative computing. This promotes open sharing and co-creation of value within the AI ecosystem, accelerating operators' transition from connectivity providers and AI service providers to becoming central hubs for AI ecosystem security. "This is not just a technical upgrade but a profound transformation of the business model," emphasized Tang Xue. "ZTE's AIR MAX injects strong momentum into the industry's leap from 'reshaping connectivity' to 'transcending connectivity.' It drives the industry's transformation from 'selling traffic' to 'providing AI services,' helping operators evolve from traditional telecom providers into technology enterprises with limitless potential." Subsequently, ZTE Senior Vice President Zhang Wanchun, ZTE Vice President and General Manager of Strategic Architecture for Wireless and Computing Power Products Tang Xue, ZTE Vice President and General Manager of Computing Power and Core Network Products Chen Xinyu, ZTE Vice President and General Manager of RAN Products Li Xiaotong, ZTE Vice President and General Manager of Data Intelligence and Service Products Zheng Peng, and ZTE Vice President and Deputy General Manager of Computing Power and Core Network Products Zhao Weiquan jointly launched the ZTE AIR MAX solution. The official release of ZTE AIR MAX marks a critical step forward in ZTE's pursuit of its vision for the future development of mobile networks. By deeply integrating AI technology into mobile networks, it not only enhances network operational efficiency but also opens up entirely new paths for value creation.
