US Senate Finance Panel Postpones Hearing for Fed Nominee

The U.S. Senate Finance Committee has canceled plans to hold a confirmation hearing next week for Kevin Warsh, President Trump's nominee for Federal Reserve chair, according to a Thursday report by Punchbowl News citing two informed sources. As of Thursday evening, the committee had not set or announced a hearing date. Under its rules, hearings require at least five days' advance notice. Since hearings are typically held only from Tuesday to Thursday, April 21 is now the earliest possible date for Warsh's confirmation hearing. This delay narrows the window for the Senate to complete full confirmation before the term of current Fed Chair Powell ends on May 15. Powell has stated that if Warsh is not confirmed by then, he will continue to serve as "interim" chair. The committee has not yet responded to requests for comment.
