Southern 2x Samsung Electronics ETF Surges Over 5% as HBM4 Yield Breaks 80% Milestone

The Southern 2x Leveraged Samsung Electronics ETF (07747) has surged more than 5%, trading up 5.64% at HKD 65.1 as of the time of writing, with a turnover of HKD 383 million.

Market reports indicate that Samsung Electronics' sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory, HBM4, has seen its yield rate climb sharply from under 60% at the initial production stage to around 80%, reaching the company's year-end target ahead of schedule. The industry refers to the 80% yield rate as the "golden yield," and this breakthrough signifies a critical step forward for Samsung in both the profitability and mass supply of HBM4.

Analysts believe that the expansion of HBM4 output will not only strongly support the production of NVIDIA Corp (NVDA.US) next-generation AI accelerator, Vera Rubin, but also help major clients like NVIDIA diversify their supply chains, reducing over-reliance on a single supplier. With the realization of the "golden yield," expectations for Samsung's capacity expansion and profit improvement have significantly strengthened.

The company has confirmed that HBM4 revenue in the third quarter will grow more than threefold quarter-over-quarter, and in the second half of the year, HBM4 will account for over 60% of Samsung's total HBM revenue. In terms of market share, Samsung has set a target for its HBM market share to reach around 38% by the end of the year, aligning with its share in the DRAM segment.
