According to the latest data from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, on May 28, YOFC (06869) experienced significant position transfers with a total value of HK$2.408 billion, accounting for 2.77% of its shares. A company shareholder transferred 5.3406 million shares to Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) and moved 7.3165 million shares out from HSBC.

Separately, reports indicate that shares of Fujikura Ltd., a fiber optic cable manufacturer, nearly halved in the week ending May 20. Growing market concerns suggest that some data center projects are facing delays due to material bottlenecks and supply chain constraints. Since May 13, shares of other fiber optic cable manufacturers, Furukawa Electric Co. and Sumitomo Electric Industries, have also underperformed Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index.

UBS previously released a research note stating that YOFC's first-quarter net profit was 495 million yuan, falling below buy-side market expectations of 800 million to 1 billion yuan. The bank anticipates a negative market reaction in the short term. However, it maintains confidence in the company's profit growth over the coming quarters, believing that the full impact of rising fiber optic prices will take time to materialize. With sustained growth in data center demand, the bank believes YOFC has the potential to meet its full-year forecasts.
