The Center for Quality and Safety of Agricultural Products under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently announced the second batch of nationally renowned, distinctive, excellent, and novel agricultural products for 2026, and Wafangdian White-Feathered Broiler Chicken was successfully included.

This recognition fills a gap in Wafangdian City's nationally renowned, distinctive, excellent, and novel agricultural products in the livestock and poultry category, achieving a zero breakthrough in that category. It is also the first and only nationally renowned, distinctive, excellent, and novel agricultural product in the livestock and poultry category in the Dalian region.

With this addition, the number of nationally renowned, distinctive, excellent, and novel agricultural products owned by Wafangdian City has increased to five. Following the four distinctive fruit and vegetable products — Wafangdian Yandian Sweet Potato, Wafangdian Guoguang Apple, Wafangdian Yellow Marshal Apple, and Wafangdian Grape — a fifth "national-brand" agricultural product in the livestock and poultry category has now been added. This marks a new step forward in the city's agricultural branding, distinctive development, and quality improvement, further enriching the matrix of local distinctive agricultural product brands.

In recent years, the Wafangdian City Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau has devoted itself to agricultural brand development, leveraging local distinctive agricultural resource advantages and continuously strengthening policy guidance and service empowerment. It has actively guided production and operation entities in its jurisdiction to apply for certification of nationally renowned, distinctive, excellent, and novel agricultural products and green food, standardized the authorized use of geographical indications for agricultural products, vigorously promoted the construction of standardized production bases, and guided operating entities to expand the scale of cultivation and breeding of high-quality brand agricultural products. At the same time, it has continuously improved the traceability system for agricultural product quality and safety, strengthened the full-chain quality supervision mechanism, and continuously polished the public brand of Wafangdian distinctive agricultural products, effectively enhancing the market visibility, reputation, and core competitiveness of local high-quality agricultural products.
