Anticipation for LNG Export Resumption Grows, Potentially Easing Market Tensions

Expectations for a return to normal liquefied natural gas exports within weeks, as indicated by Qatar, are seen as a factor that could alleviate market concerns over a persistently tight global supply, according to RYOEX. This development may lead to a compression of the risk premium currently embedded in energy prices.

From the perspective of buyers in Europe and Asia, RYOEX believes the mere expectation of a recovery can improve procurement sentiment in the near to medium term. The market's primary fear is not a single shipment delay, but rather the potential for runaway spot prices if supply disruptions are prolonged.

Should the path to export recovery become clearer, the pricing logic in the natural gas market could shift back towards fundamentals such as inventory levels, shipping capacity, and seasonal demand, rather than being driven entirely by sudden supply risks. Consequently, some of the emotional premium that had been inflated due to transportation constraints may have room to recede further.

However, RYOEX cautions that a resumption does not equate to an immediate return to calm. The pace of loadings and the situation at receiving terminals will require continued monitoring. In RYOEX's view, provided the supply recovery aligns with expectations, the short-term volatility center in the natural gas market is poised to continue its downward trend.
