RH Petrogas Limited announced that its 82.65%-owned subsidiary, Petrogas (Basin) Ltd., spudded the Northwest Klagagi-1 (NWK-1) well on Jun, 25 2026 under the Kepala Burung Production Sharing Contract in Southwest Papua, Indonesia.

The well, situated about 15 km northeast of the Arar production cluster, is planned to reach a total depth of roughly 6,700 feet (around 2,000 metres). Drilling will use the group’s own rig and is scheduled to take 36 days.

NWK-1 is designed as both a development and exploration well. It will first target gas in the upper Kais Formation before being deepened to test additional hydrocarbon potential in the lower Kais Formation, the Oligocene-aged Sirga Formation and the Devonian-aged Basement.

According to Group CEO and Executive Director Francis Chang, the campaign seeks to advance existing gas development while assessing further growth opportunities. Prior delays enabled the rig to perform successful workovers on three nearby wells, resulting in additional production.

Singapore-listed RH Petrogas focuses on upstream oil and gas activities in the ASEAN region and currently holds two producing assets in Indonesia.
