McDonald's China has long supported the tangible philanthropic project "Ronald McDonald House Charities" – providing "a home away from home" and "family-centered" care and support for families with children facing medical challenges who are receiving treatment away from home. By the end of 2025, there will be three Ronald McDonald Houses in mainland China, located in Changsha, Hunan, Shanghai, and Beijing, having cumulatively served over 1,890 families and provided more than 83,000 nights of restful sleep.
Recently, marking the 10th anniversary of Ronald McDonald House Charities' presence in mainland China, McDonald's China collaborated with mainland pop singer and songwriter Curley G to release the Ronald McDonald House theme song "Together, We Are Home," using music to convey support and companionship. This initiative further诠释 the "family-centered" care philosophy consistently advocated by the Ronald McDonald House. Simultaneously, the Hunan Ronald McDonald House officially launched a new music classroom, further providing emotional companionship and mood therapy for the families of young patients.
McDonald's China, by gathering strength from all sectors of society, encourages more members of the public to move from "hearing about" to "taking action," participating in the philanthropic practices of Ronald McDonald House Charities. "Over the ten years since Ronald McDonald House Charities landed in mainland China, it has consistently adhered to the 'family-centered' care philosophy, providing not only stable accommodation support for families with children in difficult circumstances receiving medical treatment away from home but also offering them continuous and warm guardianship. In the future, McDonald's China will continue to work hand-in-hand with all sectors of society to promote the continuous improvement of the Ronald McDonald House service system, allowing this 'family-centered' care to benefit more families of young patients," said Gu Lei, McDonald's China Chief Impact Officer and Co-Chair of the Management Committee of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation McDonald's Ronald McDonald House Charities Fund.
On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the Hunan Ronald McDonald House pioneered the launch of a "Music Classroom" and plans to regularly hold music sharing and teaching activities to provide emotional support for resident families. Prior to this, the Shanghai and Beijing Ronald McDonald Houses had already established stable music volunteer service mechanisms, continuously linking with volunteer teams to conduct long-term music classes and thematic activities.
Over the past decade, Ronald McDonald House Charities has persistently been guided by the "family-centered" philosophy, continuously improving its comprehensive service system ranging from daily life care to emotional support, creating a "home away from home" for the families of young patients. All three Ronald McDonald Houses have received LEED Gold certification, and are equipped with functional spaces such as kitchens, laundry rooms, and common activity areas, creating a comfortable, convenient, and reassuring living environment for families with children receiving medical treatment away from home.
Beyond basic living support, Ronald McDonald House Charities also focuses on the emotional and psychological needs of resident families through more humane daily operations and companion services, organizing activities such as holiday gatherings, birthday parties, and handicraft sessions. These initiatives promote interaction and communication between families, and between families and volunteers, allowing them to gain more spiritual support from each other's company and feel the power of "being together."
It is reported that in 2006, McDonald's China and the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation jointly established and launched the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation McDonald's Ronald McDonald House Charities Fund (abbreviated as "China RMHC Fund"). The fund aims to promote the health and welfare of children in China through sustainable fundraising mechanisms and by identifying, establishing, and funding projects that directly improve the health and welfare of Chinese children. Ronald McDonald House Charities is one of the philanthropic projects funded by the China RMHC Fund.
The first Ronald McDonald House in mainland China was established in Changsha, Hunan, in 2016. By December 2025, it had cumulatively served over 1,000 families and provided more than 52,000 nights of restful sleep.
To support the construction and operation of Ronald McDonald House Charities, McDonald's China has gradually built a sustainable philanthropic support mechanism covering customers, employees, and partners from all sectors of society, transforming everyday participation into long-term assistance. At the customer level, McDonald's China integrates philanthropy into daily consumption and interaction scenarios. At the employee level, McDonald's China's employee volunteer program, the "McDonald's Volunteer Corps," has been operating continuously for 16 years. Since the establishment of the three Ronald McDonald Houses, the "McDonald's Volunteer Corps" has long-term participated in volunteer services at the Houses, continuously delivering care to the families of young patients and the community.
At the societal level, McDonald's China has been holding "Charity Bazaars" since 2023, involving employees, volunteers, and caring partners from society. In 2025, this event was held simultaneously in 7 cities, attracting nearly ten thousand consumers to participate, with all funds raised used to support Ronald McDonald House Charities. Furthermore, the爱心亲子公益活动 "McDonald's Fun Run," hosted by McDonald's China, has been held for eight sessions. A portion of the event registration fees, as well as funds raised from charity sales and carnival games at the event site, are used to support the daily construction and operation of "Ronald McDonald House Charities."
