Lijiang Airport Sets New Single-Day Air Cargo Record at 106.55 Tonnes

On September 23, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport handled 106.55 tonnes of cargo and mail in a single day, setting a new all-time daily record since the airport began operations, as its air cargo business continues to improve in both quality and efficiency.

For a long time, the airport has been steadily enhancing its full-process cargo support capabilities, tapping deeper into local supply markets, and strengthening coordination among multiple parties. In line with the development needs of local specialty industries, it has continued to build a complete support system covering cargo terminal operations, warehousing and transshipment, security screening, and loading and unloading, keeping air transport channels open for highland specialty agricultural products, e-commerce parcels, and cultural tourism supplies, helping local specialty products reach beyond northwestern Yunnan and injecting aviation momentum into regional economic development.

This year marks the first year of reform in the cargo business. Lijiang Airport has taken overall charge of the entire chain of cargo and mail acceptance, security screening, sorting, and apron loading and unloading, continuously optimizing cargo support procedures, addressing management weaknesses, and improving on-site control capabilities. The breakthrough of exceeding 100 tonnes in single-day cargo and mail handling is a concentrated reflection of the results of self-operated cargo management. It not only validates the effectiveness of earlier process optimization and on-site control efforts, but also reflects the continued improvement of the air cargo market and the steady growth in air transport demand for local specialty agricultural products.

Recently, a concentrated harvest of highland delicacies has come to market, becoming the core driver of this cargo volume increase. Fresh goods such as matsutake mushrooms and snow peaches are delicate and easily damaged, with short freshness windows, placing extremely high demands on sorting, warehousing, and loading efficiency, and making them a key focus of peak-season cargo support. For fresh agricultural and sideline products, the Lijiang Airport cargo terminal has opened a dedicated green channel for perishable cargo, implementing expedited support measures throughout the entire process, including priority acceptance, priority security screening, separate pallet building, priority load planning, and priority loading, minimizing ground dwell time for cargo, strictly controlling the risk of damage, and making every effort to preserve the fresh quality of highland mountain delicacies, delivering this sweet and fresh flavor from the mountains to consumers more quickly.

It is understood that the single-day cargo and mail handling volume of 106.55 tonnes is another important achievement for Lijiang Airport following its record-breaking passenger volume. This breakthrough confirms that, on the basis of continuously rising passenger traffic, the airport's cargo support capacity has been fully unleashed, further consolidating the balanced development pattern of both passenger and cargo operations that Lijiang Airport has pursued for many years.

Next, Lijiang Regional Airport Management Branch will address shortcomings in air logistics development, optimize the cargo service chain, broaden cargo cooperation channels, and continue to improve comprehensive cargo support capacity, contributing solid aviation strength to the development of the local cultural tourism industry and the high-quality development of the regional economy.
