Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) took the top spot in Friday's US stock trading volume, closing up 6.10% with a massive $34.77 billion in trades. The memory chip maker has announced plans to significantly ramp up its High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) production capacity this year, with output potentially doubling. The company also indicated it will unveil detailed information about additional employee bonuses in the coming weeks.

NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) followed as the second most-traded stock, closing 0.84% higher on $30.59 billion in volume. In corporate developments, the AI chip giant is in discussions to invest approximately $2.5 billion in Thinking Machines Lab and an additional $2 billion in Nscale, signaling its aggressive push into strategic partnerships and emerging AI ventures.

Tesla Motors (NASDAQ: TSLA) dropped 5.92% to close as the fifth most-active stock, with trading volume reaching $22.93 billion. The decline came after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) initiated an audit inquiry regarding roughly 1,000 Tesla Cybercab autonomous vehicles sold in the US market, raising regulatory concerns for the EV maker.

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) slipped 2.51% on $12.26 billion in volume, ranking sixth in trading activity. Reports indicate the tech giant's foldable iPhone could carry a significantly higher price tag than expected, with IDC projecting an average selling price of $2,550 for the device. Additionally, the highly anticipated foldable handset is reportedly being produced at an initial daily output of only "a few hundred units," largely due to Apple's extremely stringent quality control standards. In other news, Apple may introduce a new MacBook model positioned between the LCD-based MacBook Air and the OLED-equipped MacBook Pro.

SpaceX fell 1.2% to rank 16th in trading volume, with $7.55 billion changing hands. Analysts at Oppenheimer raised their price target on the company, citing strong momentum in its AI business initiatives. Meanwhile, SpaceX is reportedly among four US firms that will skip the upcoming Paris Space Summit.

Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) declined 1.11% to close as the 17th most-active stock, posting $7.06 billion in volume. The company is set to roll out the LYRIA 3.5 music generation model across its GEMINI application and API, expanding its generative AI capabilities into creative content production.
