On November 9 at 7:30 AM, the 2025 JD.com Beijing Tongzhou Canal Half Marathon officially kicked off at Sikong Fenshu Street in the Tongzhou Canal Business District. The highly anticipated event attracted runners from across the country to gather in Tongzhou, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and urban development through their strides, ultimately concluding with great success. The event saw a record participation, with 12,969 runners completing the race.

After intense competition, Chinese athlete Sun Xiaoyang claimed the men's title with an outstanding time of 1:05:17, breaking the event record. Meanwhile, Liu Wenqing secured the women's championship with a time of 1:15:13. The finish line erupted in applause and cheers as spectators celebrated not only the winners but also all participants who persevered to the end.

Certified as an A1-class event by the Chinese Athletics Association, this year’s marathon featured an upgraded course design. Runners passed through key landmarks including the Beijing (Tongzhou) Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Area, the Canal Business District, the sub-center’s three major cultural facilities, and the Green Heart Forest Park before finishing at Renmin University’s Tongzhou campus. The flat and scenic route provided ideal conditions for personal bests while offering an immersive experience blending competition and urban charm.

Nearly 50,000 applicants vied for entry, setting a new record, with 15,000 runners selected via lottery. Participants ranged from 18 to 77 years old, highlighting the event’s broad appeal. Additionally, 87 running clubs joined the "Elite Running Club Rankings," fostering teamwork and camaraderie along the course.

Adhering to a "green and low-carbon" philosophy, organizers implemented paperless initiatives, waste sorting guidance, resource recycling, and eco-friendly travel promotions. Participants were encouraged to join the "Green Marathon" pledge, aligning with sustainable event practices.

For operational support, the Beijing Athletics Association deployed 122 officials, 1,200 security personnel, and over 1,560 volunteers. Medical safeguards included 10 aid stations, 24 ambulances, 60 mobile AED units, and emergency hospital channels. Seven official hydration stations offered diverse supplies, along with warm drinks, towels, and thermal blankets for cold-weather preparedness.

Co-hosted by the Tongzhou District Government and Beijing State-Owned Assets Management Co., with JD.com as the title sponsor, the event featured brand activations and logistical support. Strategic partner China Telecom contributed technological expertise, while multiple sponsors ensured smooth execution.

The race was broadcast live by Beijing TV’s Sports and Leisure Channel, further amplifying its reach.
