Carpenter Tan’s 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance Report highlights a year of measurable environmental gains and operational milestones following the commissioning of its new Wanzhou production base.

Environmental performance • Total greenhouse-gas emissions fell 6.9 % to 2,602.45 tonnes, cutting intensity to 0.45 tonnes per 1,000 units (2024: 0.50).  – Scope 1 emissions were essentially flat at 482.61 tonnes (-0.8 %).  – Scope 2 emissions dropped 16.6 % to 1,541.10 tonnes, reflecting higher on-site solar utilisation.  – Scope 3 emissions rose 26.1 % to 578.74 tonnes, driven by increased business travel disclosures.

• Energy consumption was mixed. Electricity use inched up 3.4 % to 3,483.63 MWh, while gasoline and diesel fell 17.0 % and 24.9 %, respectively, after tighter vehicle dispatch and completion of log-stacking work. Natural-gas demand rose 1.6 % to 204,466 m³, though usage intensity declined 2 % year-on-year, meeting the board’s target.

• Water conservation efforts—chiefly the replacement of leaking underground fire-hydrant piping and the switch to river water for irrigation—cut consumption 41.4 % to 0.02 million tonnes and reduced wastewater discharge by a similar 41.4 %.

• Hazardous solid waste fell 11.2 % to 4.05 tonnes, beating the company’s 15 % intensity-reduction goal, while non-hazardous solid waste rose 3.0 % to 820.05 tonnes due to more precise food-waste reporting.

Health, safety and workforce • Zero work-related fatalities were recorded for the third consecutive year; lost-time injuries totalled 184 days (2024: six days). • The workforce grew to 1,029 employees, 56.3 % of whom are female. Monthly staff-turnover averaged 0.67 %. More than 79 % of employees received training, averaging around 6.6 hours each. • The company maintained full compliance with labour laws and expanded its support for employees with disabilities, employing over 300 people with special needs.

Supply chain and product responsibility • The approved supplier base increased to 18 mainland-China vendors, all subject to environmental and social due-diligence reviews. • Product complaints rose to 79 cases (2024: 33), but no product recalls were required. • QR-code anti-counterfeit labelling and ISO 9001-compliant quality controls underpinned customer-satisfaction initiatives.

Certifications and community engagement • The Wanzhou plant earned ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 45001 (occupational health & safety) and ISO 9001 (quality) certifications, alongside national safety-standardisation accreditation. • Community spending reached approximately RMB0.02 million, focused on festival support for children and the elderly, while site landscaping opened green space to local residents.

Outlook The board reaffirmed its top-down ESG governance model and will continue integrating clean-energy projects, supply-chain screening and employee well-being initiatives to sustain Carpenter Tan’s ambition of developing into “the world’s first brand of practical wooden handicrafts” with a lower environmental footprint.
