The Nantong Fosda marine engineering and intelligent equipment manufacturing project, constructed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Third Construction Co., Ltd., has officially begun construction. Located in the Qidong Lvsigang Economic and Technological Development Zone's enclosed port basin east port area in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, the project covers multiple sectors including municipal engineering, building construction, and industrial workshops. It is a key project for the expansion and upgrading of the marine engineering equipment industry cluster, with a total land area of approximately 313,000 square meters and a total of 10 individual buildings. Among them, the largest single building, the No. 3 combined workshop, is a single-story steel structure factory with a building area of approximately 107,000 square meters and a height of 48.4 meters.
The project represents a critical strategic move to extend cryogenic technology into marine engineering equipment and high value-added segments. Upon completion, it will be used to produce large-scale marine engineering equipment, large oil and gas modules, and large chemical containers, and will include a heavy-lift wharf to meet the needs of large equipment manufacturing, final assembly, and delivery. It is understood that the Fosda marine engineering and intelligent equipment manufacturing project is invested and constructed by Hangzhou Fosda Cryogenic Equipment Co., Ltd., with a total investment of approximately 1 billion yuan. In September last year, Fosda signed an Investment Agreement with the Qidong Municipal People's Government. In November of the same year, Fosda Marine Engineering (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. completed its industrial and commercial registration with a registered capital of 588 million yuan, settling in the Qidong Lvsigang Economic Development Zone.
Previously, Fosda Marine Engineering (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. successfully acquired the industrial land numbered G26037 in the east port area of the Qidong Lvsigang Economic and Technological Development Zone through public bidding. The plot is located approximately 600 meters south of the intersection of Donghai Avenue and Zhujiang Road, with an area of 153,003 square meters. The land use is industrial, with a 50-year transfer term and a transaction price of 34.89 million yuan. The transferor is the Qidong Municipal Natural Resources and Planning Bureau. As a domestic cryogenic equipment manufacturing enterprise, Fosda has long been deeply engaged in technical fields such as low-temperature liquefaction and gas separation, accumulating relatively mature design and complete equipment manufacturing capabilities in air separation units, natural gas liquefaction processing, large cold boxes, and heat exchange equipment. Its products are widely used in petrochemical, coal chemical, and new energy industries. This investment in building a marine engineering equipment manufacturing base is an important measure for Fosda to leverage its existing technological accumulation and further extend into areas such as offshore oil and gas development and marine cryogenic equipment.
According to the plan, the project is expected to enter trial production in the second quarter of 2027. After official production commences, it will focus on producing large-scale marine engineering equipment, offshore oil and gas processing modules, large chemical pressure vessels, and offshore liquefied cold boxes, targeting market demands such as LNG, offshore hydrogen production, and floating oil and gas production units, promoting the application of low-temperature liquefaction and gas separation technologies in the marine engineering field. Fosda believes that cryogenic technology-related equipment is becoming increasingly critical in the marine engineering equipment sector, especially in areas such as the transportation and processing of liquefied natural gas (LNG), including floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) units and LNG carriers. As global energy demand continues to rise, compounded by long-term risk factors such as geopolitical events and significant fluctuations in international oil prices, major countries worldwide are re-examining the importance of energy security and jointly promoting the diversification of oil and gas supply. Global deepwater and ultra-deepwater oil and gas resources are abundant, driving sustained growth in demand for offshore oil and gas resource development, with offshore natural gas maintaining relatively high growth rates. This, in turn, will drive market demand for high-end marine engineering equipment such as FLNG units, LNG carriers, floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, floating storage and regasification units (FSRU), and floating storage units (FSU).
Through the implementation of this project, Fosda will fully seize the development opportunities in the marine engineering equipment market, enter the high value-added marine engineering equipment manufacturing sector, and further extend the application areas of cryogenic technology products. The large oil and gas modules, large chemical containers, and other cryogenic technology products involved in this project have complex manufacturing processes and are technology-intensive, facing dual pressures of tight schedules and quality control during manufacturing and delivery. After project implementation, it will effectively enhance Fosda's manufacturing, final assembly, commissioning, and integrated delivery capabilities in the field of large cryogenic technology equipment. The company will also introduce and cultivate key technical talent, strengthen whole-process project management, optimize production organization models and supply chain coordination mechanisms, further improve customer satisfaction, and provide strong support for gaining customer trust and orders. The project site, Lvsigang, serves as a new gateway for opening up under the Belt and Road Initiative, the starting port area of the new Tongzhou Bay seaport, and a new hub for river-sea intermodal transport in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The project's implementation will further strengthen the port area's marine engineering equipment industry cluster and inject strong momentum into the development of the region's high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
