A woman has responded to viral social media posts claiming her husband, who allegedly committed domestic violence, fell and was hospitalized in the ICU while on his way to meet his mistress, stating that some information circulates online differs from the actual situation.

On August 14, a netizen posted that a woman had repeatedly suffered domestic violence but chose to endure it silently because her son was preparing for university admission, which required strict background checks, and she feared it would affect her child's future. The post claimed that her abusive husband later fell off his motorcycle while going to meet his mistress and ended up unconscious in the ICU.

On August 20, the woman involved, Nian Ying (pseudonym), told reporters that the social media coverage had attracted significant public attention, but some information differed from reality. Nian Ying clarified that her son was born from her previous marriage with her ex-husband, and she has no children with her current husband. While her child does plan to apply for university admission with strict background check requirements, her ex-husband never committed domestic violence against her. "We haven't been in contact since our divorce," she said.

"Many people say I didn't fight back against domestic violence because I was worried that if I did, my current husband would falsely accuse me, giving me a criminal record that would affect my child's university application," Nian Ying explained.

Regarding claims that Shi (her current husband) fell off his electric scooter while going to meet his mistress, resulting in unconsciousness, Nian Ying stated she could not confirm whether he was actually going to meet another woman when the accident occurred. As of August 2025, Shi has regained consciousness and been discharged from the hospital.

Nian Ying admitted that filing for divorce while Shi was seriously injured and had no income was understandably opposed by Shi's parents, but she felt too wronged to continue. After their relationship deteriorated, Shi's parents denied all her contributions and sacrifices for Shi, which she found unacceptable, ultimately leading her to share her experiences online.

"After the story gained attention, Shi's parents contacted me, hoping I would remove the videos and promising they would agree to the divorce once Shi fully recovered," she said.
