Two slope collapses occurred on August 23 in Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, leaving four people unaccounted for. In response, the Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geological disaster defense alert for Yunnan at 2:00 PM that day and dispatched a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.

The Ministry has directed the Yunnan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately send an expert task force to the scene to assist local authorities with technical support during search and rescue efforts. Additionally, authorities have been urged to conduct thorough inspections, monitoring, and preventive measures for geological hazards under similar conditions. The China Geological Survey and the Ministry's Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center have been tasked with enhancing expert coordination, organizational support, and collaborative assessments to ensure comprehensive technical assistance at the site.
